Sea Battle Classic IconIn our review of Sea Battle Classic I praised the game for its fantastic hand-drawn art style and simple, fast, and fun gameplay (hey, it’s Battleship–you either want to play a quick game or two or you don’t). One of the suggestions I made to make it even better was to add online multiplayer in addition to its already included Bluetooth and Wi-Fi multiplayer–and the developer did just that.

Awaiting internet multiplayer battle!

I really must say the developer did quite an excellent job with the online multiplayer, basically creating stat tracking, chat, and user accounts from scratch. I’ve never had a problem jumping into a game with someone at almost any time of the day or night. Overall it adds just that much more to the game for times when you’d rather play against a human instead of the computer. The only quibble about the online play (and this is no fault of the game) is that due to general latency at times it may take half a second to a second for a click to register. Again, it’s through no real fault of the developer and isn’t a big deal at all but I thought I should mention it since the vs computer gameplay is so much faster.

The lobby lets you choose your opponents, check leaderboards, and check out your own game stats

Winning so far! Playing against a human is a lot more fun than against the computer

Due to this great addition, the Panappticon Verdict is being revised from 89/100 to 96/100. The only thing ‘wrong’ with the game is also what’s so great about it–it’s a fantastically simple Battleship game. You either want to play it or you don’t–it’s not going to convince you to absolutely adore Battleship if you threw a fit in 5th grade every time your friend wanted to play with you. But if you do fancy a game every now and then, I can’t possibly recommend Sea Battle Classic [App Store Link] more highly.
